Dr. Shanks graduated from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2022. Dr. Shanks was nominated as the Student Doctor of the Year by her peers and served as an ACOFP state delegate for 3 years during her medical school years. Dr. Shanks received ACOFP's 2021 Marie Wiseman Outstanding Osteopathic Student of the Year. Dr. Shanks served as ACOFP Resident Governor in 2023-2024.
Dr. Shanks is a second-year Family Medicine Resident at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. She chose family medicine because she believes it is where she can have the largest impact on her patients overall healthcare and serve the community she is a part of. She is passionate about providing care to underserved communities, community service, educating and advocating for her patients. Dr. Shanks provides full spectrum care to patients of all ages in Baldwin County. Her professional interests include patient health advocacy, reproductive health, and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Prior to joining South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Dr. Shanks completed her doctorate at Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, going to the beach, and being with family.
