Dr. Barbara Capozzi serves as Clinical Dean of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM- Harlem, NY), and Associate Professor of Family Medicine. Dr. Capozzi had previously served as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education at the NY Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) in Old Westbury, NY. Her teaching experience spans the entire continuum of osteopathic medical education and interprofessional healthcare programs. She collaborated in the development of a Leadership Certificate program and has presented at state and national medical CME conferences on various leadership topics. She completed the Touro College Academy of Leadership and Management Fellowship, collaborated on the establishment of the Touro Interdisciplinary Institute for Health Aging, and collaborated with colleagues at the Touro College of Pharmacy on leadership programs. Dr. Capozzi served as President of the NYS Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). She is the recipient of three leadership awards and the TouroCOM Teacher of the Year Award. She was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) and serves as a GHHS Faculty Advisor for the TouroCOM Harlem campus. Dr. Capozzi is the designated to receive the Sheldon L. Sirota, DO Medal of Honor Award, TouroCOM NY-- reflecting her passion for excellence in osteopathic medical education and promoting collaborative leadership.
