Al Anthony Mercado has practiced in the fields of medical, podiatric and dental professional liability, general liability, and insurance coverage for over 30 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1989 before receiving his Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law in 1992. Mr. Mercado is admitted to practice law in New York State and the Eastern District of the State of New York.

As a national speaker, Mr. Mercado has presented at National Healthcare Conferences on a wide range of trending medical-legal topics involving litigation and healthcare law. Similarly, Mr. Mercado has authored and published articles on various legal and risk management topics. He has spoken at the ACOFP Annua; Conference in 2024 on the topics of the Legal Aspects of Augmented Intelligence and Physician Burnout.

As a counselor at law, Mr. Mercado has provided practical risk management advice to physicians, dentists, hospitals, and healthcare organizations throughout New York State on legal and regulatory topics for three decades.
