Ryan Smith, DO, FAAFP is a Family Medicine physician, Board-Certified in Family Medicine and OMT. He practices at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, MI, where he serves as Core Faculty in the Family Medicine residency program. Dr. Smith completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, where he also served as a Chief Resident. Dr. Smith seeks to educate the next generation of family physicians by promoting health and wellness, encompassing a holistic approach to each patient. Dr. Smith focuses on disease prevention/management and aspects of the mind, body, and spirit that integrate into optimizing a patient’s health. Dr. Smith has a passion for faculty development and has worked with national healthcare organizations helping facilitate multiple faculty assessment, senior leader, and physician wellness workshops. Dr. Smith holds an academic appointment with Michigan State University COM, A.T. Still University COM, and Kansas City University COM as Clinical Faculty. He also serves as a Director on the MAOFP Board of Directors and Education Committee Chair. Dr. Smith has previously served as the Resident Governor and Chair of the resident council for ACOFP. Dr. Smith has received the AOF Emerging Leader Award, AOF/ACOFP Outstanding Resident of the Year Award, MAOFP Resident of the Year Award, and the STFM Resident Teacher Award. Dr. Smith’s mission is to allow each learner a suitable environment to learn, grow, and flourish.
